Palmetto Framed Deer

Up ahead, on the trail this Florida Whitetail doe framed herself perfectly for a nice portrait-followed shortly thereafter by a "high tail" in the opposite direction. While continuing up the trail two very large wild hogs were not so skittish but soon decided to follow suit after figuring I was a little more challenge than initially anticipated.

This Barred owl was seen hunting along a remote dirt road on a ranch. After a bit of success he perched in a nearby oak tree to pose for an intimate portrait.

Unlike their distant cousins-the cow, whitetail deer are not fenced in by a little barbed wire. They navigate aerially with great precision. This doe was captured effortlessly leaping as she headed for the greener grass on the other side.

Seemingly a succession of deer in various stages of foraging. One stands alert while the others graze.

Roadside Perch

Caracara are scavengers, often finding a lot of meals near roadways in the remote areas of Florida. This image was captured from one such road of a pair sitting among a dead tree in an open field with a sunrise behind. Caracaras are a rare site for most in Florida except for those who live or venture into the more remote inland areas.
