Golden Canopy

Fort Center, within the Fisheating Creek WMA, FL. Ancient Native American earthen structures surround this nice trail through an oak hammock. Within the oaks are wild citrus trees possibly centruries old ansestors of trees bartered by natives from early Spanish explorers.

Striking Pose

This Barred owl was seen hunting along a remote dirt road on a ranch. After a bit of success he perched in a nearby oak tree to pose for an intimate portrait.

Deer Fence

Unlike their distant cousins-the cow, whitetail deer are not fenced in by a little barbed wire. They navigate aerially with great precision. This doe was captured effortlessly leaping as she headed for the greener grass on the other side.

Triple Take

Seemingly a succession of deer in various stages of foraging. One stands alert while the others graze.

Roadside Perch

Caracara are scavengers, often finding a lot of meals near roadways in the remote areas of Florida. This image was captured from one such road of a pair sitting among a dead tree in an open field with a sunrise behind. Caracaras are a rare site for most in Florida except for those who live or venture into the more remote inland areas.

This trio of Sandhill Cranes personally greets early morning bike riders into their misty home one early morning.

Rope Drop

Grassy Waters Preserve, West Palm Beach. An expansive boardwalk through cypress swamps captured at sunrise. A typical obstacle are spider webs which provided dinner to the namesake the previous evening. One such can be seen draping across the rails some distance into the scene as a greeting to the first morning visitor. These walks are also frequented by single track bike riders, whose tracks are well worn in the center of the boards.
